Welcome to BSAVA's Clinical Research Abstract submission pages.

Please note that clinical research abstract submission is now closed

If you have any questions about clinical research abstracts please contact Gene Waterhouse on g.waterhouse@bsava.com or call 01452 726705

The closing date for all CRA's is 5pm on November 3rd 2008.

The Clinical Research Abstracts are a valuable feature of Congress. They consist of a series of 12-minute oral presentations (plus 3 minutes for discussion) on recent research into various aspects of clinical medicine and surgery.

In addition to clinical research, preliminary findings and unique case reports of exceptional interest are also considered, and papers from practitioners are particularly welcome. Experimental animal studies are only considered if it is clear that they conform to the U.K. Home Office requirements. Accepted abstracts are published in the Congress Proceedings.

The Congress Committee awards prizes for the best abstracts presented by a resident or post-graduate student in the general areas of medicine and surgery, and a separate prize for practitioners.

Submissions are only accepted online and must be completed by 5pm on 3rd November 2008. Late abstracts will not be accepted. All will be peer-reviewed, and if accepted the submitting author will be offered free registration for the entire congress if the submitting author is a BSAVA member for 2009, or if the submitting author is not a BSAVA member, for the day of presentation of the abstract only.  Registration is non-transferable.  The reviewers’ decision is final, and if the abstract is not accepted, feedback will not be given. Abstracts which state “results will be presented” will be rejected.

You are welcome to submit more than one abstract

Clinical research abstracts are a valued and integral part of Congress and run concurrently with the main scientific programme on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th April 2009

Presentation of a Clinical Research Abstract at Congress 2009 will entitle the presenting author to free registration:

- BSAVA member: full Congress

- Non-member of the BSAVA: day of presentation only

There will be prizes awarded for the best resident/graduate student abstracts in Medicine and Surgery and the best abstract presented by a veterinary surgeon in practice

There are no poster presentations

  6. The presenting author must be available to present the abstract on any date during the congress: changes cannot be made to the timetable to accommodate individuals
